Two herons too far

These two great blue herons were too far away even for the 80-400mm lens and most definitely for my 300mm, but Tim worked so hard to get this, I’m posting it anyway. I may post one of mine as well since other than a blackbird, they were the only birds we saw the entire afternoon (and it was exciting to see them).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

*****

We made our usual trek to Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens to see the lotuses and water lilies in advance of their July festival since we won’t be able to attend. I don’t know if we were too early or too late, or both, but either the lotuses were completely spent or still buds and didn’t offer much in the way of photo ops. In addition, very few water lilies were in bloom, and mainly white ones at that. There were, however, a lot of dragonflies and butterflies and a couple of birds, some of which we managed to capture. It was a pleasant afternoon despite the heat, but not quite what we were expecting!

Not easy to capture two herons together like that. Tim did a good job.

This came out very nicely - the natural background works well V
