Across the water: Face off

Despite the great distance, Tim was intent on photographing some Great Egrets across the water, and he also wanted to see how and if continuous focus worked.

I only realized when processing his pictures that there was also a heron on the opposite shore.

We stopped at Virginia’s Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary, which we’ve passed many times on the parkway, to see what was there. It’s not an easy place to navigate and isn’t really set up for viewing anything, but we found a few openings on to the water and saw some great egrets and a few other birds along with dragonflies and other insects.

Looks like continuous focus worked well for him. I've never had much luck with it. V
