Redwing

I actually bought a book on birds in this area and found that this is a red-winged blackbird. He wasn’t very cooperative in showing his colorful wing, but I finally caught a brief glimpse of it.

Taken at Huntley Meadows Park in Fairfax County, Virginia, a marvelous wetland, meadowland and forest area about a half hour outside Washington, D.C.

Sharp and exposed perfect. Not easy on a black bird.

You've been finding a nice variety of birds! These guys move around a lot. I've found it difficult to capture them! Do you know about the Merlin app for the phone that will identify birds from your photographs? It's very good if you have a full view of the bird.

well caught, and well situated amid the red flashes of budding leaves..

Excellent capture of him. Now that I am also trying to photograph birds, I have a whole new appreciation for how hard it is to actually get a decent shot. Most of the time, they don't seem to cooperate. ~BV~
