Tigris River

I can’t remember where this was taken, or even if I took it or if Tim did on a business trip to the Southeast. In any case, it’s the famous Tigris River, which runs through Diyarbakır, a stop on this trip.

The Tigris River is the eastern member of the two great rivers that define Mesopotamia, the other being the Euphrates. The river flows south from the mountains of southeastern Turkey through Iraq and empties into the Persian Gulf.

We (in Hungarian) also say "Tigris", now I know our word originates from Turkey. Great photo Helen. V

Famous indeed. 'Tis passing through remarkably dry country, presumably well away from its source.

some contrasts there
