National Mall, Washington Monument

This is one hesitation I have with this kind of camera -- fixed 24mm lens with no zoom. I have cropped this a bit as I couldn't stand it being that far away ;-).

Leica LEICA X2
1/80s f/11.0 at 24.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

A beautiful view with the Cannas in the foreground. V.
I think that any camera in your hands will deliver great images.

A beautiful scene with those lovely colourful flowers in the foreground, Helen...V

More than sharp enough for a severe crop. Lovely shot under a clear blue sky! V

Very nice with those flowers on the forground. Great POV... V
I like the far view one has here
A 24 mm is great, but for sure you, have to see what to do with it, it is different as hacing the possibility to zoom... 😄
Anyway I like your image

I do love the view. V

I couldn't do without a zoom, personally. As nice as the image quality is. And this is a nice picture.

Great line-up in the composition, Helen. Nice depth to the image. Good clarity.
You're right about the lack of zoom, though. I can't stand not having a good zoom.

Very pretty scene Helen. I know what you mean about not having any zoom.... V

This is an expansive view that is just awesome ~V~

This is a lovely shot. I hear you about the zoom capabilities. That would frustrate me enormously. V

Like the flowers with their colours acting like a hedge in the foreground with the extensive long view across the National Mall to the Washington Monument...V

It has great detail and depth. I like the layers from the flowers to the monument. V.

I have a Leica X-1. Nice camera but having grown up with a 28-70mm zoom on just about every camera I frequently find I am frustrated by the inability to zoom. I have not had my money's worth from my X-1.

Superbe composition avec ces différents plans. V

You really ought to take a look at the Olympus E-PL5. It's really small, has a swiveling lcd and touch to shoot capability. You can get a nice external viewfinder for it. I have the VF2 and it's fine. The Olympus OM-D EM5 is excellent as well and has better stabilization, but I don't think you will need it for your kind of focusing. Way lighter camera/lens weights than your D800. I took two micro 43 bodies, 3 lenses, two battery chargers, 4 extra batteries and a couple of extra SD cards when I recently went on vacation and my bag weight 6.4 pounds. You have no idea how much more relaxing it is to go light! Warning: Using micro 43 can spoil you - nice to have live histogram and blinkies. Out of camera jpgs from the Olympus cameras are outstanding.

looks as if it has stood the crop, but no crane-boom elimination function?
marie-jose wolff06-Sep-2013 16:44
fine scene with this flowered foreground! V

Very nice work with this image.V

I agree with Will, you should be able to crop well with this camera.

A very lovely image,Helen!

Excellent depth of field. This camera looks like a winner to me. Better a lens wider than you need than the opposite. You can always crop; you can't expand what isn't there.

Nice compo!
