This engine house, built in 1894, is no longer in use but was recommended in 2008 for the status of District of Columbia landmark. The Historic Preservation Board also recommended that its case be forwarded to the National Registry of the Historic Places for designation as a place of local significance. It's located at 1341 Maryland Avenue NE, and after all the years we have owned a home here, maybe six blocks away, today was the first time I've ever seen it.
