The first two-thirds of this gallery is part of the Art Nouveau collection from a spectacular exhibit of Zsolnay porcelain in Pécs, at the Zsolnay Cultural Center, which is still under construction. These pieces are my favorites, so I processed them first, but the older and more classic Zsolnay is also exquisite; unfortunately, shooting conditions were pretty difficult (almost impossible, in fact) in that part of the gallery (lighting, reflections), so I haven't included nearly as much of it. Perhaps another visit is in order.

Zsolnay Porcelain Manufacturing was established in 1853 and over the years has produced outstanding works of art. It's still operating today, although certainly not on the scale of the past. This superb collection of 600 pieces was half donated and half sold to the new Zsolnay cultural center of Pécs, the home of Zsolnay porcelain, by Hungarian-American research engineer Lászlo Gyugyi, who collected the pieces over a period of almost 50 years. The collection is one of the finest in the world of Zsolnay porcelain and at present is viewable with reservations in Pécs at http://iranypecs.hu/portal/mainpage/news?ID=36 (please note the email address for reservations is incorrect; it should be gyugyikiallitas@gmail.com). I'm greatly indebted to Ms. Cecelia Torma, who made it possible for me to be able to photograph what I wanted of the exhibit.
