Okay... I abandoned the hand cut thing. After cutting the tails for the pins the fit just wasn't up
to a standard I was happy with. So I trimmed the ends and brought out my specialized Leigh D4 dovetail
jig. Over the past two nights of prep and setup I just have a perfect fit using scrap material. There
is a little bit of tinkering to do yet to get the offset just right, but from there it will only take
one more night to cut and fit all of the joints using the finish material.
