In Veterans Memorial Cemetery is a controversial sculpture honoring WWII vets that was originally titled "Bringing Home the Bacon" and featured a grinning soldier carrying the helmets of two (dead?) Germans. The helmets were removed from the sculpture decades ago (though the statue's hand still looks like it's gripping something). The grin remains.
