Great Northern Minnesota Raid Movie Location

Jacksonville, OR

Notorious James-Younger gang Minnesota bank robbery was dramatized in a 1972 film using this Oregon town as a shooting location. Starred Robert Duvall and Cliff Robertson.

The Bella Union Restaurant and Saloon at 170 W. California Street is not one building, but three. The old brick portion, constructed in 1874, replaced an earlier building that housed the original Bella Union Saloon. The middle portion and main entry is straight out of Hollywood. It was built in 1970 when Jacksonville became the movie set for The Great Northfield Minnesota Raid.

While it is reported that movie memorabilia was displayed in the saloon, none was found and the hostess was unaware of any. One western-style saloon print was found in entrance, but this was not from the movie as only the exterior of the building makes an appearance.
