The film Napoleon Dynamite, chronicling a few weeks in the life of a high school geek, was released on June 11, 2004 and rapidly became a cult classic. It was shot almost entirely in and around the town of Preston.

Kip and Uncle Rico escaped to the bowling alley to privately discuss plans for their Nylon Polymer empire. They bowled on lane 5, now a favorite of Napoleon Dynamite fans.
