The film Napoleon Dynamite, chronicling a few weeks in the life of a high school geek, was released on June 11, 2004 and rapidly became a cult classic. It was shot almost entirely in and around the town of Preston.

Napoleon and Pedro confirmed their friendship on the bleachers by the track, and Napoleon made up stories about a fake girlfriend while Pedro announced he was going to ask Summer to the dance. The track is a different (blue) surface now, and the bleachers appear to have been replaced with a smaller version.
