Preston, ID

At daybreak on January 29, 1863, Col. Patrick Connor, leading a group of California infantry, attacked a Northern Shoshoni encampment at Bear River, killing 300-400 men, women, and children. It is the largest documented massacre of Indians in the history of the United States.
