Eugene, OR

Eugene has a 1:1,000,000,000 scale model of the solar system. The Sun is in Alton Baker Park with each of the planets at the appropriate distance at that scale. The planets closest to the sun are within easy walking distance, whereas outer planets are a considerable walk (nearly 4 miles). There is a plaque at each planet that describes it. The placement of the planets follow a paved trail along the Willamette River. My visit was limited to the 4 closest planets. Wasn't feeling like adding a 7-1/2 mile walk to the visit.
