Fort Stevens State Park, OR

A memorial slab in Fort Stevens State Park commemorates the ineffective shelling of the Fort in 1942 by a Japanese submarine. It addresses the wishes of both nations to work toward an everlasting peace. A separate memorial nearby is located at the site of the actual shelling.
