A must-do for aviation fans, this tour takes guests inside a massive Boeing assembly plant that holds the record for being the largest building in the world by volume (472 million cubic feet). Covering a staggering 98.3 acres, the building contains the production line for wide body Boeing commercial airplanes, including the 747, 767, and 777. Production of the smaller popular 737 will soon be added to supplement the output of the Boeing plant in Renton.
The 90-minute tour begins and ends in the Future of Flight Aviation Gallery. It features a Boeing 727 cockpit in which visitors can sit and operate switches; working full-size models of 777 and 787 engines; and a rooftop observation deck with views of the factory, Paine Field runway, and parked aircraft.
Guests are then led inside the assembly building where they learn about Boeing airplanes and watch from catwalks as the commercial jets are assembled right before their eyes.
Photography is not allowed on the tour of the plant.
