Sultan John: 13-Foot-Tall Man with Fish

Sultan, WA

Sculpted by the late Jerry Carter in the 1980s out of two tons of sawdust and resin. Chief Tseultd, aka Sultan John, namesake of the town, was a local tribal chief who died in 1906. He stands, naked to the waist, with a spear in one hand and a dead salmon in the other.
