The "Birthplace of U-Haul" is Ridgefield, Washington. Officials from U-Haul attended the ceremony when the new sign on Pioneer Street was erected. The actual building where the first trailers were built has been moved a short distance because the land where it was originally became part of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
Portland, Oregon claims to be the "Retail" Birthplace of U-Haul, at least according to a sign in front of a U-Haul business there. As one observer commented: "Portland notoriously steals or takes credit for things which it has no rights to."
Literally one of the least inspiring destinations for a photography bucket list - a sign next to a roundabout.
