The film Napoleon Dynamite, chronicling a few weeks in the life of a high school geek, was released on June 11, 2004 and rapidly became a cult classic. It was shot almost entirely in and around the town of Preston.

Summer's house is where Pedro secretively delivered an ill-fated prom invitation to Summer in the form of a cake.
