The film Napoleon Dynamite, chronicling a few weeks in the life of a high school geek, was released on June 11, 2004 and rapidly became a cult classic. It was shot almost entirely in and around the town of Preston.
Twenty years later, the town still embraces its connection with the movie. Everywhere I went to take photos I was greeted positively, often with a knowing "another picture taker" nod and smile. This sign in someone's yard celebrating the 20th anniversary of the movie illustrates the community's support and pride in being Napoleon's home town.
