Gordon House

Silverton, OR

This house tucked again in the recesses of the Oregon Gardens was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, the only one of it’s kind in the state.

The house was created for a family in the Willamette Valley section of Oregon. It represents Wright’s Usonian vision of Americans prioritizing low-cost living. When the original owners sold the home, the new caretakers were on the verge of destroying Wright’s creation to make room for a more modern structure. The house was saved by the Frank Lloyd Wright Conservancy, who dismantled it and transferred the iconic home to the Oregon Gardens. There, it was reassembled and is now open for the public to view to further understand Wright’s vision.
