During the conceptualizing of this art project, Hervé Denis was inspired by works produced by differently abled artists.
A career diplomat, hotelier and business entrepreneur, Hervé has always been driven by an underlying desire to better life for those in his home country. To this end, in the late '70's and early '80's his dream as a diplomat was to build a bridge between Haitians in exile (mostly opponents to the Duvalier regime) and art and culture in their island home. Hervé longed to offer Haitians an opportunity to meet without fighting, using the culture of art and beauty as a catalyst for peace. Along the way, he became a collector and ultimately dedicated himself to promoting the art of disabled Haitians while actively supporting a number of young, emerging artists, the works of several of whom can be seen throughout his collection.
Hervé currently holds the position of Président de la Chambre de Commerce et des Industries dHaiti, serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army, Rotary Foundation, various task forces and dedicates his time to numerous social causes.
We are offering this inspirational category to encourage and promote the artistic ventures of those with handicaps and challenges in their lives.
The hope is to broaden the spectrum, motivate and perhaps create a market for this genre of art which could in turn flow back and benefit these wonderful artists.
