Mystery Bird

This bird came to our birdfeeder this afternoon. It's the size of a Rose-breasted
Grosbeak (I have pics of those on the same feeder so compared size, its size caught
my eye)but has reddish colour on its head & down it's back to the rump. Is fluffy
like a juvenile something. Looked larger than a house or purple finch and no gray
colour or white wing bars of a pine grosbeak. Is it just a purple finch on steroids?
Any suggestions gratefully taken.

Photo taken through patio door, Ottawa

Hello, this bird is a "fluffed up" House Finch.

Super shot. I'd say a house finch and maybe it appears so big becuase it is all fluffed up. I am wondering if it has that disease that afflicts a lot of finches/ Something about the eyes, and the feathering make me wonder.

I agree with Tom. Perhaps a male House Finch on steroids?
