Piping Plovers (4 photos) Nova Scotia

Every beach was posted to remind people to walk only on the wet sand as the plovers
were nesting and raising young on the dry sandy areas. You could see the adults foraging near the water's edge.



This one let me get a bit closer.



They ran really fast and were so camouflaged it was hard to spot them. Several were banded and I'll
try to find out some info about them.



This wee youngster followed the adults onto the wet sand. I kept well away from him so
as not to stress the adults. This is a cropped photo.
