Spotted Sandpiper

Penny and I saw this small stocky bird foraging and wondered if it was a juvenile. Looked
like it had a very short tail. However, the spots were visible so what was going on ?

The next moment it turned and became the classic looking Spotted Sandpiper. Maybe it had
just had a bath and was fluffed up to dry for the several minutes it looked so different.

OK, so we need new glasses. ;). Nice shots of it perched on the rock.
