Red-eared Slider (3 photos)

I found this turtle digging her hole right beside the path. Several people had walked
right by not noticing her. She looks like a Red-eared Slider but has she mated with
a painted turtle ? ID by other pbase members say it's a Red-eared.

After half an hour she began laying her eggs.

She was a large Red-eared- her shell was about 10"(35cm) long.

Andrew Haydon Park, Ottawa

FANTASTIC find and set of images Linda. She does look a bit different from the Red-eared Slider we saw there a few years ago. A hybrid????

Fantastic timing to see this, Linda. Wonderful capture of this magical event. Proximity to the path does not bode well for the longevity of the eggs/hatchlings, however.

Oh, Mama! Fascinating series. Now you will have to watch for the hatching!
