Andrew Haydon Park Bird Count 2014

Female Goldeneye and Canada Geese.
I walked into the park today, sinking up to my thighs in snow every few steps, and
in the small bit of open water in the eastern creek was a small flock of geese
and this lone female Goldeneye swimming away from me as fast as she could. Last year
I photographed 56 different species in this park so I've started with these two for 2014.

A great start!

At least the birds don't have to contend with wading through deep snow (and it IS deep everywhere I've been!).

Good start Linda. It's bound to get easier ones the snow leaves. I admire your determination. Hope you break your last years total this season.

Thanks for testing the waters...er...snow, Linda. Good to know that soon we too can be racking up different species at AHP. Had a similar experience yesterday in Algonquin Park. Just a little off the trail and up to waist in snow.
