House Sparrow

Photographed through the patio door this house sparrow was fluffed up to the
max in the frigid weather while he waited his turn at the feeder. This species'
numbers are in decline although we have a small flock of 8 at our feeders daily.
Thanks to Christine Hanrahan for alerting me to this fact.

Dec 28th Michael Runtz noted in the Pakenham-Arnprior CBC: "House Sparrow 127
-very low count, their decline continues. I did not see even a single House Sparrow,
making this the first time that I missed this species on this count."

This is a great shot. I have had only a couple at my feeders in three years. It is now a red letter day if I see this bird!

Nice shot of it through the window Linda. About 18 reside in my backyard. They are costing me an arm and a leg in feed, but do help in keeping many Squirrels in food.
