This photo was taken last fall. These two had been together for a week under the ice and the next day it snowed heavily and I was never able to see through the ice again until today, April 17, 2013.
I sent this photo to Micheal Runtz,Carleton U natural history professor, and he replied that it was iffy whether the large snapper would survive in shallow water but it looks like he did I hope.
April 17, 2013 Large 50cm/20" snapping turtle under thick ice in deeper part of creek at Andrew Haydon Park. Maybe same turtle as in November.
