This is a very familiar picture - it looks like Ward 2 to me which I was in for three months at the beginning of 1944. The centre block was a dividing unit between the men's section (Nearest to camera) and the women's section.. Beyond the slight rise to the right of the picture was a bowling green and our dining hall. We were able to go for lengthy walks around the grounds which were well treed in those days. Even reached the dip in the ground on Skidby hill.

have fond memories, watching telly when I shouldn't reading hulk and spider-man comics, making lots of airfix models, and leaving them for the little uns when I left. they really looked after me, and I was a spoiled git really, My poor Mam came to see me every day from Hull, I miss her so much now, we never appreciate what people do for us until we grow up, I was thirteen and three quartes then! thank you castle Hill, and Dr Moghissi, Andrew Barr, Hull
