Everyone should go to Greece at least once.

Corfu was a seat of European learning in the early days of modern Greece. While the rest of the nation struggled simply to get by, the Corfiots established cultural institutions such as libraries and centres of learning, and many major Greek figures like Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first head of independent Greece, hailed from Corfu. To this day, Corfiots remain proud of their intellectual and artistic roots. This legacy is visible from its fine museums and cultural life to its high-calibre, Italian-influenced cuisine.

I am thinking od going to Arilas next year, and your photographs show that ir is a wonderful place, but I have heards that there a lot of snakes in Corfu, and I have aphobia of them. Even dead ones. Any info on this subject would be appreciated and may help to make my mind up.

Glad the pics where of help Carlos - your'e welcome. Enjoy Arilas. If you can live without rip -roaring nightlife it's perfect. We went end of september, still very warm, no crowds, few children, great food, though suspect it's great whenever you go.

I'm going to Arilas on holiday and was really pleased to find your site. The photographs are excellent and I am far more excited now than I was prior to trawling through your album. Thank you very much for the insight - 'An excellent tribute to Corfu'...

Ah........ brings back memories of Arilas (we were there twice this year). Nice snaps - please share my humble efforts at http://www.pbase.com/nesty2066 excuse the football ones - but there are two folders of Arillas ....
