Kelly had a rental car while we visited her. She drove us between Hakodate and Sapporo (5 hours each way) through absolutely beautiful countryside. The biggest attraction (literally) was Yotei-san, the Hokkaido equivalent of Mt. Fuji. We also caught just a glimpse of the ash plume from Mt. Usu the erupting volcano.
