Dublin City Marathon 2005, Dublin, Ireland. October 31, 2005

My worst ever marathon. Sub-par training, injuries including piriformis, jet lag - it all added up :-( Still, I had a lot of fun and I ran so slow that my legs were not even sore the next day.

Walking to the start Waiting to begin in the pouring rain. Taken on the run. Chicken little: the sky indeed is falling!
There were mats like this all along the course for split times Phoenix Park - the largest urban park in Europe More Phoenix park Pleasant scene - hardly know you're in a city
Ireland signature: a rainbow Ubiquitous pubs And equally ubiquitous churches Another pub
The 20 mile mark and many are reduced to walking Main thoroughfare leading to Centre City Dublin The M1 I believe There are an amazing number of palm trees in Ireland
The RDS, site of the expo on Saturday and Sunday It did get sunny after all City street Ball's Bridge
Hanging medals around necks T-shirt only if you finish! Baggie off, nearing the finish Wearing my Seattle Marathon technical shirt
It was sunny at the finish

Hi there,
Nice photos - I'm running Dublin this year (next Monday, yikes), and it's my first marathon, so it was great to see some photos of the course, weather, etc. Thanks for posting these and happy running in 2006 & 2007!
