This is a set of 3 photos taken at Lake Martin (near Breaux Bridge, Louisiana) on a cold, overcast day in April of 2003. There isn't any single image in this group that I consider worthy of posting by itself but i think as a set they show how fragile life is in the swamps. The photos are posted in the order I shot them.
1st Photo: I didn't see any of this happen so I don't know if the nesting Great Egret was attacked by something that climbed the tree, by another territorial Egret or by some other predator bird.
2nd Photo: More remains directly below the nest in the 1st photo.
3rd Photo: I was distracted by something else and when I turned back to look at the nest I saw this Egret staring at the remains below. My guess is that it is the mate to the dead Egret.
