Boston Light From Stony Beach Hull Mass. USA

A 15.8 minute exposure. Canon 1DMKII. ISO 50, 70-200L2.8 IS at 200MM F10. No filter.
A fairly long burn with Noise Reduction on, so it took over 30 minutes to do. I still had a few black pixels to clone out, but the result was acceptable. A bit of Noise Ninja as well.
Cropped from 8 MP rectangle. I found the shot called for the pano look.
It was foggy and I could only see the beacon and a few light glows on the left. This was over a mile off shore.
I love burning in time exposures as they create a different world.

Hi my name is Kelli and I live in LA Ca.I went to Mass in Oct 2007 for my 50 Birthday and saw so many beautiful places...my last stop was Hull Mass so I could be close to the Airport and couldn`t believe what a beautiful place I had stumbled upon.
I stayed at a Hotel called the Nantasket Beach Resort and the people there were all so nice....I was able to see the Lighthouse from my room and drove it the next morning but wasn`t able to get very close and desided when I got home that I would go online and see if I could find it and here it is....wow it is the most beautiful Lighthouse I have ever seen, thank you so much for sharing this with the world.

I have seen this view many times but not quite as beautiful as this.

Robert,
i used to love jumping off of Loyd's pier when i was a kid. I love this shot. Is there any way that i could have it digitally enlarged. I own the old Hull Yacht Club space now and this is the most fabulous BL shot i've ever seen.
Best,
Steve Clancy

I'd like to buy this image. It's easily the best lighthouse shot I've seen anywhere on the web. Great stuff!!

Thanks! Just the joy of digital. I shot a few at 30secs and one minute then just did some creative math based on years of night shots. If it came out poorly, I could always reshoot as sunrise was a few hours off. I'm glad you enjoyed the shot.

Fantastic!
How in the world do you even calculate the exposure on a shot like this?

I am so incredibly impressed with this shot, it is so 'other-worldly' and magical. Very well done. :)

I'm happy so many folks like the image. I had a good time making it, but showing it to others is always what it is about! The Canon MKII is quite capable. It is good to take it to its limits. I'm sure it can be pushed even further. Thanks all!

A different world to be sure; a stunning one! It's amazing what such a long exposure can reveal, and you've done this expertly. Fantastic, voteworthy shot.
