Tomorrow is the 20th anniversary of the New London to New Brighton (MN) car run, a 120-mile endurance run for cars built in 1908 or earlier, or any one or two-cylinder vehicles made through 1915.
Patterned after the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in England. The English run celebrates the repeal of the "red flag" law in 1896. The law banned the first motorized vehicles from using the road unless a man carrying a red flag walked in front of the car.
The Minnesota run is designed to showcase the beauty and endurance of the nation's earliest automobiles.
