We had passed tower number 12 (left) and were at the edge of an area that is closed to the tourists. There was no guard whatsoever here to enforce the no-entry rule. Actually, there were no people other than us in this entire section of the Great Wall. So, we decided to proceed uphill, passing beyond a warning sign.
