moon

Handheld.... No tripod. Laying on my back with head on a pillow in the driveway.
No telescope or telephoto lens attachments. Just the Panasonic FZ10 Camera.
It has a Leica 2.8 lens with 12x optical zoom and image stabilization. Used black and white mode since the moon has no color, only shades of grey. Set it on automatic aperture and speed adjustment. Spot focus with manual focus ring. I did a minor bit of sharpening and contrast and brightness adjustment in Photoshop Elements.
To do it better I would take a slightly darker shot and using a crescent moon for better crater and mountain detail. As crater and mountain detail is better seen in the long shadow area of the terminator (area between light and dark). Whatever phase you shoot get it high in the sky on a clear night, less atmosphere and haze to cut through.

Great photo. I have wondered about trying to take this kind of shot. Are you using addittional equipment e.g a telescope. Paul
