The Four Musketeers

view map

These four children were just playing in the street when we stopped to look at some ruins by the
side of the road. As we all jumped out of the truck, I watched these children just staring at us,
fascinated and curious about our truck, our cameras, our "exotic" look. Shy, wouldn't come near
us, hiding behind trees, running around a corner. Peeking around to look at us, smiling. We walked around,
the shy children slowly became bolder, coming closer, starting to giggle, pointing.
I showed them a picture on my cameras LCD screen...WOW, what a reaction. Screams, laughter, running
around. Christmas morning. So excited you couldn't contain them. After they saw their own faces,
in full color, smiling back at them...well, forget it... A truly great memory from my travels,
fleeting at the time, but something I will look back on and remember for a lifetime.

Taken in Abomey, Benin.

Great shot. A lot more to see than there seems.

You've got a good lens there for such candids. Great job on this!
