I got a call from a friend to tell me about a large flock of Bohemian Waxwings gorging themselves on the small fruits of a crab apple tree located not far from his house. I grabbed my camera and was there in about 20 minutes. The flock was still hard at it. They vigorously attacked the small fruit and "stuffed" themselves. Every once-in-a-while they would fly off en mass, spooked by something, such as me or a crow, only to return in a few moments. There were in excess of 100 Bohemians plus one Cedar Waxwing. These large flocks have been flying around our neighbourhood for some weeks now, a rather rare occurrence for our area.
