Ottawa

The next series of shots are of BALD-FACED HORNETS (wasps) and their nest. This nest was found in a tree in front of a friends house. Note: the intricrate upside down, paper-like, pear-shaped nest structure. These are fairly aggressive wasps, which I can attest to as I got a bit too close for comfort. No damage done though, as I wisely and quickly retreated when they started to buzz around my head. Brought out a longer lens the next day. (shot 1 of 5)

A well conceived shot of this intricate and quite remarkable hornet nest. Inside is a sophisticated set of 'chambers' for rearing young. Really quite astonishing. Your photo shows the beauty of this creation.
