20191223-2 2184 - SERIES - Northern Hawk Owl.jpg

Ottawa West

Five series images of a Northern Hawk Owl taking off to catch a vole.
.
Top Image: Great concentration whilst keeping its sights fixed on one spot some distance away. The owl can sit and stare like this seemingly for many minutes.

A quick turn and the dive/flight begins, never losing sight of its prey, still hidden from the many onlookers.

Eyes fixed on the prize throughout the flight.

I was too slow to catch the final leg of the flight/dive, however, this time the vole got lucky as the Hawk came up empty.

The composition of the top photo is fantastic!
The seemless continuation of branch into owl is intruiging.
Great!
Best,
Bert

Eh, I know I sound monotonous in my comments, but I'm in love with your owls. Nobody can capture them better than you.
