When the light started to fade, the owl flew from its high roosting perch to this low branch and started looking down at the ground as if looking for prey. It is perched only about 5 meters up (15 feet) and in this image is looking right at us. It then decided to fly off into the woods, probably to continue the hunt unhindered.
