20160527 0478 SERIES - Mute Swan & Canada Goose.jpg

Presquile

Four images of a Mute Swan confronting a Canada Goose, presumably to protect his nearby family. The Goose may have had a nest in the reeds nearby as it seemed also to be protective of its territory.

Top Image: The Goose appears to be approaching/confronting the bigger Swan.

On a collision course. The Goose doesn't appear to be intimidated by the Swan.

Mom and the kids a short distance from Dad and the Goose confrontation.

Dad charging the Goose, with Mom and the kids a short distance back.

Nice series Hank, showing that mute swans live up to their reputation of aggression to geese on the same pond.

Wonderful series, Hank. The Canada looks tiny compared to the swan.

A treasure. The swan in the busking position is the most beautiful in the world and when it comes to protecting the babies there is nothing more ferocious than a swan.

Sam Rua16-Jun-2016 14:21
Nice series, Hank. Both can be very cantankerous. Those swans look so elegant with the wing display.

Some 'birders' have expressed that Mute Swans are as bad House Sparrows for our environment - I do like this series of Images though
