Three images of a male Short-tailed Weasel.
Four or five of us were looking to photograph Warblers returning or coming through for their Spring migration. All of a sudden one in the group (Chris) spotted this Weasel running nearby in the woods. At first we thought it was a Long-tailed Weasel, due to its relatively long tail. As most, if not all of us had not seen a Long-tailed before, we got pretty exited and we abandoned the Warbler search in order to get our first shot of what we thought to be a Long-tailed Weasel.
We were able to follow the Weasel along the edge of the woods, where because of its quickness, it was very difficult to photograph. When the Weasel crossed a boat launch ramp, I was finally able to get some shots. Of course, the light was wrong and my camera settings were off, but nevertheless I managed to get about a dozen shots. The photo-op ended when a Canada Goose joined the chase/fray and promptly dispersed the Weasel by chasing it whilst vigorously flapping its wings and honking loudly.
Chris later informed us that in fact it was not a Long-tailed, but rather the more common Short-tailed.
