Three sets of four action shots of a young Cooper's Hawk trying to catch a house sparrow, but again coming up short. All shots were taken through the window from the comfort of my nice warm kitchen. LOL
Top Image: The Hawk having dove from the top of the fence (similar to http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/162388814), flaps around the outside of the bush, trying to flush one of the Sparrows it suspects is hiding inside the bush (Nos 1,2,3 & 4).
Having failed to flush-out a Sparrow, the Hawk progressively disappears into the bush (No's 5,6&7) until it is no longer visible. (No 8).
Having failed to catch a Sparrow, the Hawk reappears on the outside of the bush, flaps around some more (No 9), then suddenly hop-flies to the top of the fence (No 10). From there, it seems about to pounce on something (No 11), but suddenly, it just takes off (No 12). Too quick for me this time, but at least I got the business end.
