In my earlier posting of the second image (from the top) of this set, Ton N. suggested that it looked like a race (wedstrijd) which it indeed seemed to be as the birds were scrambling to get away from me.

The current image shows the take-off (top photo) where the near bird is well behind. By the second image (several frames after the first (not shown)) they are nose-to-nose. In the final, the near bird is clearly the winner by several lengths.
