"GRUMPY OLD MAN", taking a nap.
This is one of only tree large North American Owls with dark eyes. Note the dark barring of the upper chest and scarf/hood-like head/neck plumage. Hence, its name.
This is the second Barred Owls seen recently in this area. It is the smaller of the two, probably a male, or a young Owl. This one was most accommodating and appeared not to be disturbed at all by the presence of several photographers. The other, larger Owl, seen previously was much more skittish and hence, more difficult to track down and photograph. I suspect that the larger Owl is a female. Hopefully, they are a couple and will nest in this area.
