Two comparison images of a young and an adult Black-crowned Night Heron.
Top Image: A juvenile Black-crowned Night Heron fishing at a pond in a local park. No fear of humans. Several noisy kids playing, running and shouting nearby and me snapping away only about four meters from the Heron.
Adult Black-crowned Night Heron. These are usually quite skittish; however, this was our lucky day. Three adult Herons were having a bit of a territorial squabble for the best fishing spot. The more aggressive one constantly chasing the other two away. In this instance, one, being chased, landed only a few meters from where a friend and I were standing. I got three or four full-frame shots before it realized we were there and it flew off to a more distant perch.
