Over the past few months, a number of rare birds have passed through our area. I was fortunate to get shots of a number of these, all lifers for me. Over the next week I propose to post images of these firsts for me.

The Western Meadowlark shown above is seldom seen in our region. It apparently was here for several weeks. On my return from my Newfoundland trip, I was fortunate to still find it and get some good shots of it. It is very similar in appearance to our Eastern Meadowlark and is most easily ID'd by its distinctive song.
